Sounders played a hard fought match against an undefeated Fire side in Chicago tonight earning 1 point with a draw. The Fire struck first in the 68th minute with a nice Blanco pass to Marco Pappa who slipped it by Keller. Tyrone Marshall provided SSFC with a 74th minute GTG in the form of a left-footed flick to the far post coming from a Ljungberg corner. Montero was sent off with a red in the 49th minute for throwing an elbow. LeToux will most likely get the start next week at home vs the Galaxy.
Tonight saw a lot of firsts for SSFC:
- First draw for MLS Sounders
- First goal by Tyrone Marshall as a Sounder
- First Sounder goal from a set piece this year
- First MLS goal scored on Kasey Keller
- First MLS red card for Fredy Montero
- First MLS assist for Freddie Ljungberg
Side note about our kits...
Our kits looked absolutely terrible on TV tonight! The all green is especially bad. The players blend in with the pitch making it difficult to watch. It looked like the Fire was playing against a bunch of blue socks. Our Rave Green is a very unique color, and I like-but we desperately need white shorts (see photo below).
Questions...
- Does LeToux get the start up front next week? How will he do?
- Is Montero's amazing success early in the season ending up to be a bad thing?
- Do the Sounders need to invest in new TV commentators (I know it wasn't Kevin tonight-but still)?

I hope Le Toux gets the start up front next week. I think he can do some amazing thing up front. It will be interesting to see if the Le Toux/Ljungberg combination works better than the Montero/Ljungberg. I think it will because Montero and Ljungberg tend to occupy the same space on the pitch. If Le Toux gets the spot I hope he takes advantage of the opportunity.
